Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. I am sure we all will be happy to put the last two weeks of weather out of our minds.
I for one will be. I was fortunate to have a four-wheel drive to get to all my clients pets and none of my clients had to cancel their vacation plans. At times, I will say it felt like I was four-wheeling in the back country when it came to some of these hills. It makes me appreciate the fact I grew up in snow country.
The only thing I did not care for was trying to find a safe path for the dog and I to walk on. Too many times I saw that people were walking in ruts made by cars. On two occasions I started sliding when driving and almost hit a person walking in these ruts. Very dangerous.
Now we have our good old rain. Let me walk in rain..most dogs whether they are in coats or nothing covering them, like to go for their walks. The other day, I walked two Labs in the pouring rain and I mean it was pouring..they were loving this. However,I am not sure my two Pugs would enjoy this. Not every dog likes walking in the rain and getting soaked.
Speaking of getting a good soak. My big guy, Gus has an obsession with squirrels as all dogs do, I imagine. He will, if left to his own devices sit out by the tree for hours in the pouring rain. Take yesterday, I left to go on my pet sits and dog walks. When I came back five hours later, he did not greet me at the door with the other three. I looked for him all over the house, then it struck me that he must be outside and sure enough…there he was..sitting there, ever still, looking up at the tree with a fixated stare. I had to call him twice before he finally came in…soaking wet I might add. No he is not a Lab…
I wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
